Cambria: onchain assets and collectible ownership

Cambria's browser MMO has Island NFTs and Founding Charter NFTs alongside tradable game collectibles and retired NFT collections. The Island collection represents land ownership. Charters belong to the Genesis design for citizenship, earning rights, and deployment within the economy. Pendants, Charm Cards, and cosmetics have in-game collecting and trading functions. Founders and Cores no longer provide active utility. Companions await migration from NFTs to game items. These differences affect what ownership actually grants: a blockchain token, a hosted property, a collectible item, and a resource balance each have their own rules.

Ownership and utility within a shared economy

The game connects its assets through a shared economy, while each asset type combines a different ownership record with a specific game function. An NFT contract identifies a token and its holder. The game determines the associated permissions, appearance, or production role. A collection can lose gameplay utility while its ownership records remain. Equally, an item can support player trading without that trade alone establishing an NFT transfer.

Founding Charters for the Genesis economy

Founding Charters are Ethereum NFTs that the Genesis design connects to citizenship and expanded participation in its planned economy. The founding voyage comprises 4,096 Charters. Their role differs from land ownership: they govern access and deployment, including Charter-gated Royal Favor and NFT loot.

Earning through a Charter requires staking it to a Venue, such as Adventuring or a Merchant Fleet. Holding the token and deploying it therefore have different functions. Genesis also separates Founding Citizens from Viceroys, whose designation adds administrative privileges. Home City traits associate a Charter with local rights, while Affinity traits affect its role-specific power cap. These permissions belong to the planned Genesis economy.

Island NFTs and the Islets that they host

Island NFTs represent the larger landholdings in the Archipelagos, while Islets are smaller game properties anchored to those holdings. The Islands collection contains 3,333 NFTs. Their ownership records sit on Ethereum. This landholding layer connects owners with players who use hosted properties for gathering, farming, and storage.

The host Island

In First Landing, an Island holder can administer Islet placements, including approval requirements and admission status. The host Island supplies the larger setting and shared facilities around the smaller properties. This role belongs to the Island NFT holder. It differs from personally operating every hosted Islet or owning every item that its settlers gather.

The hosted Islet

An Islet gives its owner a place for production and stored goods within an Island community. Its purchase and progression belong to the game-property system. The First Landing rules retain Islets through that season, playtests, and the Gold Rush Testnet, then reset them on Gold Rush release, when players must purchase Islets again. This rule governs hosted properties; ownership of the land NFT does not preserve every Islet build across releases.

Do Founder and Core NFTs still grant gameplay benefits?

Founder and Core NFTs no longer grant their former active utility, even though their historical collections and ownership records remain identifiable.

Founder privileges and loyalty

The original Ethereum collection attached an early-supporter identity to ownership. Its former design included early access, reduced fees, and the Ser title. These were game-side entitlements attached to the token. The historical Loyalty Score tracked the duration of Founder holdings. Retaining at least one token preserved score accumulation; falling to zero reset it. The score and minting history recorded different aspects of participation, alongside the NFT's ownership history.

Cores, tiers, and wallet-bound Shards

Cores belonged to the factory layer of the old asset economy. Staking generated Companion Shards and Cosmetic Shards, which supported the creation or acquisition of other items. The factory NFT and its output were separate objects.

Normal, Enhanced, Mystic, and Arcane Cores formed the historical tiers. Tier affected Shard generation and certain cosmetic opportunities. These distinctions explained the old production system; they do not reactivate it after retirement.

Shards were soulbound, meaning that holders could not sell or transfer them. Under the old staking rules, earned Shards stayed with the wallet after a Core transfer or unstaking. Shards, Arena Tokens, and Companions now await migration into new systems, so their historical treatment does not specify every replacement rule.

Companions between NFT metadata and game inventory

Companions originated as tradable NFTs with appearance, personality, and convenience traits, and their migration into an in-game item system remains pending. The original model connected a token's metadata to the follower that appeared in the world. Its name, catchphrases, and other traits distinguished the collectible, while perks supplied separate convenience functions.

Bank All moved inventory items to the bank from anywhere inside a major city. Remote Crafting opened refining interfaces from elsewhere within a major city. These location-scoped convenience functions depended on eligible pet traits, separately from the follower's appearance. The NFT model linked those traits to an individually owned Companion; migration concerns the move from that token format into game items.

Pendants and cosmetics in the collectible layer

Pendants and cosmetics belong to different collectible categories, with Pendants forming a Dungeons economic layer and cosmetics supporting appearance and customization.

Pendants across Dungeons and Genesis

Dungeons places Pendants in its tradable economic layer, obtainable from deeper floors. Genesis also names Pendants among its proposed Ethereum game assets.

Cosmetic slots and effects

Cosmetics include equipment and weapon skins, capes, character effects, animation replacements, Companion skins, emotes, and name colors. A skin changes appearance; its item identity is separate from the equipment that it visually replaces. Players open cosmetic chests to reveal rewards that they can collect or use. For skins that override equipment appearance, other players can disable their display outside cities and safe zones. Hubs and safe zones always display those vanity overrides.

Charm Cards and their printing classes

Charm Cards Series 1 separates collectibles into Foil, Holo, and Prismatic printings with different supply rules and Binder scores. In patch v0.6.2, Foil has no supply cap; Holo permits at most 2,000 copies per card, and Prismatic permits at most 150. Limited printings enter circulation through weekly releases during the series. Individual serial numbers distinguish cards within a printing, while the Binder organizes the collection inside the game.

An Island holding beside a retired Core

In this hypothetical comparison, an account holds an Island NFT, a retired Core NFT, and a Cosmetic Shard balance. Its owner expects both NFTs to supply continuing game benefits because both remain among the account's assets.

The Island belongs to the landholding layer and connects its holder to hosted Islets under the applicable game rules. The Core belongs to the retired factory system. Its continued presence does not restore its former factory utility, and the separate Shard balance does not become transferable merely because the wallet owns a Core.

Only the Island holding supports landholder participation in this comparison. This classification applies while Core utility remains retired. The next choice is whether to administer hosted land or collect items through the game economy.

Cambria: the short answers

Can a secondary-market Founder purchase recreate original-minter status?

Buying a Founder NFT does not recreate its original minting history. The legacy OG Minter status identified participation in the original mint, while First Founder status also required an unbroken holding streak. These historical distinctions do not restore the collection's retired gameplay utility.

Were Founder Falcons separate NFTs in the Companion collection?

Founder Falcons derived their in-game access from Founder ownership. They were not separate Companion NFTs, and that earlier entitlement does not restore retired Founder utility.

Which network hosted the legacy Cores and Companion contracts?

The legacy Cores and Companion contracts were deployed on Ronin. That network identifies their original staking and NFT infrastructure. It should remain distinct from Ethereum ownership of Islands and Founding Charters, and from the game inventory that represents other collectible items.

Does hiding a Companion remove its enabled perks?

Under the legacy Companion rules, disabling visual display left enabled perks active. Visibility was a presentation setting, so hiding a follower did not change its ownership or disable its convenience entitlement. This rule describes the earlier system, whose migration into game items remains pending.

What replaced the earlier fishing reward cards?

Patch v0.6.2 renamed the earlier fishing cards as Key Caches and kept their existing function. Those rewards are separate from the newer serial-numbered Charm Cards.

How does Pendant Affinity affect Charm card packs?

In Charm Cards Series 1, Genesis Pendant holders draw their Pendant's Affinity set at double weight. This weighting changes the card-set distribution, not the printing's supply cap.

Where can players buy unopened Charm card packs?

Players can buy sealed Series 1 packs from Mina's Print or trade them through the Trading Post. Sealed packs and revealed cards are different collectible states.

Can an Island NFT's Land Seed change after reveal?

An Island's revealed Land Seed is immutable and forms part of its onchain metadata. It determines the Island's procedural identity. The seed has a different role from changeable game attributes, so an updated game state does not imply a replacement seed.
